Default Why is the crime so high in Branson?? scary!

Why is crime in Branson 3 or 4 times the national average? Your crime statistics are worse than Wichita,KS. (population 365,000), and we have gangs, lots of drugs, etc.

Wichita is not a high profile country music tourist town with a population of approximately 5,000 residents that has more than a million visitors each year, and neither is the national average. To answer your own question you must compare apples to apples, not a bull to a sailboat.

Look for towns with populations the size and ethnicity of Branson that have more than a million visitiors each summer. Contact each town for information and a list of crmes. List each crime in a new category for each city. Average the crimes in each category in each town and then compare the facts. The results are real statistics by which to judge Branson . To try to compare it with any town that is more than 20 times larger, does not hold water. It's a pig that can't fly

Question Crime?

Actually it's more like 8 million visitors each year.

Living here, the crime really doesn't seem that high to me, like we have a small handful of murders each year, the predictable drug related garbage...lots of petty theft (of course due largely to tourism)...it seems obvious if you look at city data's statistics.

It does seem that you can't just compare us to another town with like population...considering the transient element. The only crime I've experienced first hand was from someone I thought was my best friend.

But that's a story for another thread...

I have never once experience first hand crime in Branson. Only murder I heard of in recent times was a guy who fled to Branson from another state. You definitely can't compare Branson like everyone has said, too many visitors that can cause the crime rate to change.

having moved from a foreign country(new jersey) that experiences something similar I can vouch for the analsis. The Jersy shore which for the most part has vanished under overdevelopment used to be quite pleasant and an enjoyable place to visit as a summer vacation. During the"off season" it was quiet and clean. Come the summer months the "ZOMBIES" from Philly,NYC and North Jersey cities envaded with their loud radios, drunken behavior, throwing trash everywhere, sppeding while drunk in their boats, and unleashing their misbehaved brats on the locals. So what is happening in Branson is the result of the envasion of "out of town ZOMBIES" who think they are entitled to misbehave and break laws. After all they are spending the money the locals so desperatly prostitute themselves over.

I'm sorry about what happened in Jersey...but I hardly think our largely-retired-and-family oriented tourists could be broad brushed as "out of town ZOMBIES"...

Anyone who has been to any of the shows can tell you there's a huge percentage of mature adults, many veterans, and by and large are very nice folks.

I have lived in or near Branson for almost 15 years...yes there is crime and the rate is high, but before you base your opinion strictly on statistics you should also realize the amount of different people who are here everyday. the population vs the tourists cause the stats to be high. take the number of crimes and divide them between locals and tourists and your rate would be a lot closer to the realistic average crime rate. so long story short...Branson's not a bad place to be, but when you put a lotof different types of peole in a small town your bownd to have some amount of crime. don't give up on Branson just because of a statistic because you can always find a way to show it in a differnt light to look any way you want it to.

Trying to compare Branson and Wichita is like trying to compare Gary, IN and Charleston, WV. Like another poster said, you need to compare apples to apples.

I have lived in both cities, and feel much safer in Branson......like they said you are comparing two totally differnet cities with different circumstances......Branson has far more transients than Wichita has gang bangers for a start.
