AG's Palmer resigns after confession | News-Leader.com | Springfield News-Leader

Does anyone find this sad?

"one-time incident that involved ethical misconduct and an inappropriate interaction with a woman that did not involve any physical intimacy."

IMHO, I suspect there is something more to this. Though it is none of my business - and people are people - they make mistakes...

I'm guessing this will be the last we hear of it, at least hopefully. Gosh, he was just elected in past year or two and he's already resigning?

When I was out there, attending CBC at the time - there were rumors rampant of the eventual collapse of the Assemblies of God. I knew they were having some problems but I don't choose to believe they were actually to that caliber. But, I may be wrong. I know there has been a lot of tension over the years between the Headquarters and the College. Especially with the whole debacle of Trask trying to combine CBC and Evangel into one University. This may have been speculation - or maybe embellished a little. Who knows. It's hard to tell truth from fiction in those sorts of situations.

I respect Palmer's decision to go, and it was probably good that he did. Jim Bradford is an awesome Pastor - he was my Pastor when I went to Central, so he will be a breath of fresh air for the Assemblies.

My wife and I left Springfield, and distanced ourselves from the A/G because it was becoming increasingly political and beauracratic. Of course, when was it not...but it's been getting a little worse these past years. So hopefully, Bradford will turn the church in a new direction - instead of sitting on his hands.

I don't know, just kind of have mixed feelings...what are your thoughts?

I respect his "decision" to resign, but wonder if he was given a choice really. I know first-hand that there have been several people to resign or be "let go" recently for affairs.

I suppose what I find most confusing is that as Christian's we are supposed to forgive. Does AG not realize their churches (as well as all churches and, well, everywhere) is full of sinners?
