Default Any info on where to look for the best School Districts around the Jolin/Carthage area?

I have a son with an autism spectrum disorder and he is getting quite a bit of help at the school he currently goes to. What would be the best area to look into in the Southwestern Part of Missouri? Joplin, Carthage, Neosho, etc..?

Thanks for the help and your opinions.

I would recommend the Joplin school district because 1) there is a autism center in Joplin 2) the school districts work hard to accomodate and integrate children with special needs.

My son went to Cecil Floyd Elementary School (Southwest part of town) and I really liked that school. They were very involved in understanding my sons needs (he has ADHD) they always informed me of concerns or a special class that could help him. My understanding is that they have expanded to include a wing to accomodate more special ed classes.

Also...even if you do not live in that school district, they do have transfers available which just means the child has to be brought and picked up from school since they are out of the bus zones. I have heard good things about other schools too but I know about this one from my own experience.

Neosho R-5 Schools offer excellent programs especially for students with special needs. I am employed by the Neosho school as a substitute school and I can vouch for the fact that the student/teacher ratios for special needs are great.
