Need my wedding dress altered! Help! (Springfield: shops, area, place)

A few weeks ago I bought a gorgeous wedding dress one size too big at David's Bridal as it was being discontinued and I could not order my correct size. The woman who sold me the dress repeatedly assured me that it could be taken in there to fit properly, and that the few loose beads could be fixed/ replaced. However, I went today to get it altered and I was told that they cannot take it in as it is Chiffon and "we can't alter this material." I know this isn't true, there's over an inch of give on the dress and while it's more difficult to work with it can be done! I'm so distraught right now, I'm getting married May 28th and my dress hangs like a loose sack on me!

So, my question is: can anyone tell me of a good seamstress in Springfield, MO (or the surrounding area) who can take my wedding dress in? I don't know anyone in the area who has needed a seamstress to ask for references. Thanks a lot!

Call a couple of the other bridal shops, and some of the major dry cleaners. They should be able to give you the names of some seamstresses/tailors.

Not work on chiffon? How the heck do they think the dress got made in the first place, I wonder? If it was easy, everyone would do it.

good luck! My DIL went thru same thing, lost so much weight before wedding that I literally picked up the dress from our local saint seamstress the evening before the wedding. It was perfect and I'm sure yours will be, too.
