Default Wanting to make the move to the Branson Area...

My wife and I are looking at moving to Branson from the Joplin Area...So, the first problem...jobs. She's a K-5 teacher and I'm an IT Pro, with S/L and A/V production as well (I was the Technical Director at a large church in the Joplin area for 3 years).
Any advice or a plan of attack for looking for work? I'd like to stay within the IT field if possible, but wouldn't mind doing tech work for a theatre to get my foot in the door.
As of now, my plan was to send out my info to the various organizations in Branson...play up certain skillsets to certain organization types (S/L and A/V for theatres, IT and A/V for resorts, etc).
Any other help?

Check Missouri Career Center on-line. I think I saw something there that might fit your church IT background --- I've heard there is a hiring freeze at the schools, but that doesn't make sense, so your wife should be able to find work. One caveat, remember that Branson's economy is tourist-dependent and year-round employment is the exception - be prepared to be unemployed for about 3 months in the winter from the end of December until late March if you find jobs in the entertainment or hospitality fields. My husband and I live in Forsyth which is about 10-15 miles from Branson.

You may also want to check the Timeshare Resorts themselves, as they need IT personnel. I know Diamond Resorts could use a good IT expert. If you're looking for a 1 BR condo to rent on the 18th hole of a beautiful golf course......call: 417-231-2955

I too am looking to move to the Branson area from Joplin but it probably won't be till nrext Spring but I am interested to know how things turn out for you. There is a big Church on the strip, they have all kinds of telecasts, Tv and online. I believe it is called Family Life Church, they rennovated a Theater. Maybe thats an idea. GOOD LUCK
