Default Homeschooling in SW Missouri

When I investigated homeschool in the Joplin area I learned the biggest group is in Springfield where they have a used book exchange. This group is very active socially and they host a homeschool group on Yahoo.

I know several children who were homeschooled. They had an an excellent education and they were tested by the state every year. The public schools don't much like the idea as they lose federal funs for every homeshcooled child.

The advantage to homeschooling is that almost everything a child or family does can be used as a lesson and a credit toward graduation. The bad news is homeschool is one year. The good news is there are no set hours the child is in school every day, and the opportunity to learn is greater.

Well its nice if it works this way.But we Home School and our Neighbors were saying they were.We had a Program we was using with our Son everything was fine.

But our neighbor just wanted to keep his kids from the public. The Kids were in their Teens and had never been taught to write their name much less read.

Missouri kids are not required to be Tested.
