Stone/Taney County residents - write your Senators, please
For those of you who might not be aware of this factor a lot of jobs in Branson have been lost to "insourcing" foreign workers. In order to obtain a work Visa, employers must PROMISE jobs and fill out the necessary paperwork. During times when employment might be lower than expected, these jobs will go to the foreign workers and NOT to local people who NEED THE JOB.
There seems to be a very acute shortage of jobs this season in the area, and people are complaining that they cannot get work. Not only that, but many of the service type jobs (housekeeping, etc.,) are paying significantly LOWER wages than they were three or four years ago. Again this is due to bringing in foreign workers who are unskilled and do not demand as high an hourly wage as domestic workers do.
Please, people. Write your Congressman and Senator and ask their help in stopping the preferential hiring and treatment of foreign workers over domestic workers. It is not fair to force local people to go on public assistance because they cannot find decent jobs.
Thank you for taking the time to DO THIS. The only way we can stop it, and ensure that there are sufficient jobs available is to cause a stink!

You know its funny you said that because I was in Branson last October and this past March (stayed at the same hotel) and several housekeepers could not speak English. I was trying to ask for more coffee for my room and someone else had to come interpret for her. I had no idea there was a shortage of jobs.

20, do you happen to have a list of our congressmen/women? As you know I just moved here last August. I will definitely be sending them a letter, I assure you. As well as phone calls and other means of contact. This is sickening. I was wondering why wages seemed lower than they were last year when I read through the paper. Now we know why.

That's exactly how it started in California, first it's the farm workers, (because American's won't do the work)..Then it was Maids, again (because American's won't do the work) then landscaping, (because American's won't do the work).. Hell, now it's construction jobs, I've even heard Obama say.(because American's won't do the work) Wait just a cotton pickin minute Mr. The Construction trades use to be Blue Coller American, until Foreign workers drove wages down to minimum.

No, But I did here him say that illegals were only working in jobs American's didn't want like farm and construction workers.....
and it wasn't to darn long ago that a feller could make a career out of being a painter, mason, roofer, plumber, carpenter etc etc and now it seems that we are losing these jobs to unskilled labor...........
