Huh? Are you suggesting that Springfield is infested with wanna-be gang bangers, illegals and dopers? I've been here for quite a while now and I'd hate to think that I missed their arrival.

Its almost at the bottom of the page.
I'm thinking 8 SNAKE was being sarcastic.417 has been known as the Meth Capital of the U.S. for a long time.
Gang Bangers have mostly been coming down from Chicago.
Illegals have been coming in the last few years.Even have one Television Station trying to get the people to Welcome them with open Arms.they have quit promoting this so much since people started telling them how they felt about it.

MSNBC? Figures....
Ya gotta consider the source, Menace NBC. Also, this report has a May 20, 200 eight date.
When this lists Santa Rosa, CA as tenth best, St. Louis at 92nd best, and Springfield, MO at 10th worst, you've got to ask some elementary questions about their methodology. Take Santa Rosa, for instance. Most people would agree that it does have better weather than Missouri (but it's in its third year of drought). But for raising a family, fuhgedaboutit!!! Real estate prices have dropped by over 50 percent since 2005 while the cost of goods and services is higher than almost anywhere else in the country. While our state and county parks are barely hanging on from California's budgetary malfeasance, there are entrance fees at all of them unless you park your car at a more remote spot and just walk in. In contrast, all of Missouri's state parks have no entrance fees. The Shaw Nature Reserve in Gray Summit is a piddling three bucks to get in, which is less than every California *county* park I'm aware of, and you can spend the entire day hiking and seeing some great plant and animal wildlife.
While Santa Rosa's gang activity is better than the L.A. areas of Watts and Compton, you'd do well to be careful, particularly if you visit its downtown shopping mall after dinnertime for instance.
I would not recommend Santa Rosa's public schools for anyone's kids (or anywhere in Sonoma County for that matter). The less influence the California Teachers' Association has on your children, the better off they'll be. Just one quick thing with this sub-topic: While the CTA was constantly crying poormouth prior to this past May's Calif. special election, it was running multitudes of radio ads on San Francisco's Hot Talk 560 KSFO (a conservative station that's the polar opposite of the CTA's decidedly leftist worldview) which must have cost a considerable sum of money. I didn't exactly care for the CTA before, but now I've lost all respect for it.
Nope, this "best places" list is at best outdated, and at worst fundamentally flawed.

I think it is good. That would mean not so many people will want to move to the area.

Who ever did that report was on crack. I'd much rather take my chances living in Springfield then Tuson, AZ. Iv been to both places. You couldn't pay me to live in Tuson.
