I worked Downdown for 14 years. I commuted from Rockaway Beach, Airport Rd and finally from Hollister. Hollister is cheaper than Branson , but just across from Downtown on the other side of the river.
Save yourself some money and check the Branson newspapers Classifieds online.
There are hundreds of places advertised and the prices are far less than than they were 10 years ago. Plenty of furnished golf condos for sale at a low price. People bought in when prices were high and now dont get enough renters to cover the maintainance.
Rent for a while, save around $8500 put down a deposit and buy your own place...... rent money is money wasted, especially as now is a good time to buy.
