I am planning a move to Springfield, Mo in the near future - I'm bringing my doggie - a Maltese - with me. She is eleven and ........well having some issues - lots of allergies in Austin where we currently reside. I want to be sure that I have a vet for her first thing in the event that one is needed. I trust you folks to give me your honest opinions about the local vet talent and also the kennels that do boarding - I'm also in the market for a short term apt. rental - (the nice end, with good clientele) while I do some house hunting, and in the South towards Nixa and Ozark - and tell me is that where I should live? Thanks for your advise and opinions.

I use Sunshine Animal Hospital and am very satisfied...but I use them for my pet cockatoo. So I'm not sure how helpful that is to you. Welcome to Springfield!

Thank you for responding to my thread. Any input you have on finding a short term rental? How long have you lived in Springfield. I was there for a visit a month ago and I liked the area. Am looking forward to being a resident.

My vet is in Branson, but I used to use Bradford Park Veterinarian. I loved the guy and so did my dog. Ask for a young vet though....one of the older guys is a bit harsh with the dogs and the parents.

Can't help on the apt. thing. I live south of Spgfield. But if I were moving to the area, it would probably be in the southern area of the city. It seems to be newer with a lot of commercial ammenties. Depends on where your job is going to be and how far you want to commute.

I know this is an older thread, but thought I would recommend a wonderful vet for anyone that might be looking. The clinic is Deerfield in Springfield and all the vets are great, but we especially like Dr. Denise Roche and Dr. Jaime. Dr. Denise and her husband Dr. Caldwell are the owners. Just a fabulous clinic and vets!

I volunteer in rescue and have had the opportunity to use a lot of vets in the Springfield area. I liked Dr. Lisa Carlson on Sunshine, the Animal Care Clinic on South Campbell and also Bradford Park. On the latter, that is the vet practice with the specialists that do the diagnoses and surgery that other vets in the area refer to when it is out of their area of expertise.
