Some of these I havent seen on a map .. Im trying to stay away from "bloody 13" - as to that sounds just like the road I wrecked on!
Buffalo looks like a nice area .. Bolivar I have seen some post ... I have looked and looked its like playing tug of war here. Hubby wants a Ranch and I have a home base buisness I cant be out in the woods hunting bears for profit !! lol I found a house I fell in love with 10 minutes from Springfield - perfect size yard etc........ the lady even was doing the same business as me ....... I go to show my hubby the next day and contract pending! errrrr!! So I think Im going to post his resume online ... see if anyone bites Maybe he can move ahead of us and see and feel the area out. but his ideas are ... well lets say my hubby would make a really good hillbilly! (he has the bibs and the beard all ready to go) Hey I can say that after 20 years! lol |

Republic, Battlefield, Willard, Strafford, Rogersville, Ash Grove, Walnut Grove....
my sister has lived in Battlefield for the last 20 yrs and she really likes it. Battlefield does not have it own schools so you need to ask with school district housing is located in: Republic or Springfield..if you are wanting small town/rural you will want your kids to go to Republic. |

What about Crane? I believe Crane is approximately 28 miles from Springfield. Would it be a bad morning commute to Springfield? Chances are that's where I'll be working. Noticed an affordable beautiful house with a HUGE front porch on the Internet in Crane with an acre of property (you won't find me mowing that lawn. LOL) I'd have to see the inside, but the realtor told me it's all been remolded and in tip top shape.
Are there any grocery stores, gas stations, pharmacy's, etc in this area? Any information you may know about Crame would be appreciated. |

It's not that close to Springfield. Travelling on rural roads is not the same as divided lane roads, they are two laners that are all twisty and hilly. Sometimes alll clear, sometimes you get behind someone you can't pass. It's not 30 minutes in my car.

I live rurally between Hartville and Mansfield. It is just about 30 minute EASY drive to Springfield from my home. I enjoy where I live. Very rural, but very close to city shopping....without the noise, pollution, crime or high taxes.
In town, there is grocery stores...gas stations, resturants....everything one needs for daily life, in small town rural america. I rather enjoy the RURAL life style. sitting out watching the stars on my deck.....listening to the crickets chirping, or the frogs peeping...the birds singing........ah LIFE IS GOOD HERE................. and I am so seriously going to miss this place, but for medical reasons I have to move, closer to family. |

I would suggest you make a circle on a map around Springfield that radiates approx. 45 miles. Then hit the road. You can actually have a Springfield, Ozark, or Nixa address around here and get pretty rural. Most of the tax issues are if your inside the city limits although Christain county has higher property taxes than Taney for example.
And it depends on what your definition of "small town" means...just a post office and a mom & pop store? Or are you looking for Walmart or Lowes? To me Springfield is a small city while Branson, Nixa, Ozark, etc..are small towns with growing populations. Even Branson is a small town...its just that the "in town" part of it is busy with tourists. You may also want to check out Ark. Fayettville, Springdale, Rogers, etc..all are growing with industry in the area. There are jobs, but you can also live rurally like you can around Springfield. |

I grew up in Republic, so of course I'm partial. I haven't seen it mentioned as many times as I thought. It's got a nice small-town feel that you'd expect in a bedroom community, and thanks to backroads and James River Freeway there are numerous ways into Springfield from Republic. This really cuts down on traffic. It's also quickly growing because of the stellar school system.

Here is a great MO real estate link to use. Missouri Listings Search
In fact I live just atad over 30 minutes from Springfield...and LOVE IT!!!! Population of the 'town' I live in is 607. People are very very friendly. I live very close to the 60 highway..so it is just a hop, skip and jump to Springfield. I will absolutely miss this place when I sell and move to Oregon.......Missouri will always be home and hold a huge piece of my heart. I'm NOT sure what you are looking for as far as a place to call home...but my home is for sale...I live very very rural, Livestock is welcomed here...very very low taxes. Quiet, rural, friendly, crimefree neighborhood. If you want more information on MY PLACE...contact me...privately and I will send you information. My email addresss is befigard (at) yahoo (dot) com |
