Does anyone have any experience regarding hi tech jobs in Springfield? I was born and raised in Springfield, left 25 years ago for Dallas. Looking to move back as my folks are getting older, etc. I have over 20 years in a corporate enviroment and do servers, virtualization, networking, etc.

Who are the tech recruiters in Sprignfield? Any large consulting firms? Medical arena?

Thanks!

Don't waste your time looking on Craigslist, nothing there. I suggest visiting the Springfield Business Journal (Denied:1up! Software ()) and Springfield Chamber of Commerce (Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce: Home) web sites to start your networking efforts. Monster, Dice and Hotjobs all do a pretty good job of covering tech jobs in the Springfield area. (what few there are)

Job Search | one search. all jobs. Indeed will overwhelm you with jobs in the medical field (tech and otherwise). Bass Pro, O'Reilly Auto, St. John's and Cox Health are good starting places if you're interested in larger organizations. Consulting work is almost always out there if you want to beat the bushes but you'll need to do marketing and sales as well as fill the technical role.

Don't mean to get too personal but if you have the savings I would recommend just doing some energetic networking for the next couple of months.

Start working your Facebook and Linkedin contacts, attend Chamber meetings, etc. to start making new local contacts and getting to know people. After the new year fresh budgets kick in and hiring starts up again. Finding anything in November and December will be a big challenge though.

If all else fails TeleTech is always looking for good tech-oriented people and I also know that HP is opening a new support center in Conway Arkansas. (December or January) Yes, it's 4 hours south of here but if the news reports are correct, the pay is probably close to twice what you'll find in Springfield.

Good luck
