Your best bet would be to open up downtown somewhere. Yes, the foot traffic isn't anything like Chi-town, but with the Art walks, pub crawls, and countless college students, it's a win win situation. There are also more and more businesses opening up downtown if your wanting to catch the lunch rush as well. There are actually a couple of Chicago style hot dog places downtown, but the food isn't that great in my opinion. I would go try them just to see what your competition is. If you are really serious about this, make sure that you nail your recipes, and make the food as good as it can be. Springfield is a tough market for restaurants, people here love to eat out, and if your food isn't great, or amazing, you wont stay in business long. I'm sorry if I'm scaring you I just want to make sure you know what you're getting into if you do open up here. Thanks for posting and good luck with everything!

I would give Curmudgeons left nut for a Vienna dog or a Chicago Beef sandwich!!!!!!!I was up around Gary Indiana a few weeks ago and the 1st place I went was to a little Vienna dog shack by Miller beach!
