Me and my wife are looking to get out of our place in West Kansas and move to Branson. My Wife is on disability and i'm a Janitor by trade. What is the employment out there in that field?

I just did a quick job search and didn't see anything recent being posted in the Branson area for JANITOR positions. Although I'm not an expert on the area, the general consensus on this forum seems to be that Branson business is seasonal, being heavily dependent on tourism, and I would guess that winter is a slow time there so jobs will be much harder to come by this time of year.

As I'm sure you know, things are tough all over the country and that goes for Branson too. If you are in job search mode right now you'll want to plan on being very persistent, submit lots of applications, and try using non-traditional job search methods, (search Google for that phrase to see what I mean).

Good luck!

There aren't many opportunities for "Janitors" per se, however, there are many, many openings for housekeepers during the tourist season (April through December). Although, janitors, by definition probably do not make beds, I'm sure that you could translate the skills that you do have, with a little added training, into being a top-notch housekeeper.

Approximately 30 percent of the housekeepers in Branson are male. There is no stigma for a man to do this job. But it is very hard physical work, and of course, the hotels and resorts expect everyone to do the work of three people for one person's pay. But if you are good you can make as much as $9 per hour, which for housekeeping is high. In Springfield, housekeepers only get minimum wage.

If you are good also, there are opportunities for advancement to supervisory and management positions in the larger resorts and timeshare properties in the area. If you like that kind of work, it is a good place to be.
