Looks like we are going to have a normal Winter and a True January Thaw here in Southwest Missouri.

Haven't seen this for years all we need is a good Deep Snow after the Thaw.

Maybe this will take care of Bugs and Southern Invaders such as Armadilos.

I am NOT enjoying this frigid cold, but it makes me feel better to hear it will kill off bugs.
We had a red-shouldered hawk in our backyard yesterday. Never saw one before (although I've only gotten into bird watching over the last several months). She was beautiful.

We are certainly getting our share of cold weather this year. Hope this means a nice long mild spring too! Ditto on killing off bugs. Mosquitos have been awful the last few years!

We've had a Bald Eagle hanging around.

Very cool!!! I've seen a few by Truman, but never anywhere right near my home.
Snowing again...I thought there was a slight chance of flurries today but we have at least an inch of snow so far this morning.

I'd say at least three inches here as well and it's still coming down!

Pretty cold here in NW MO with another 1.5" of snow overnight. No thaw since the Christmas eve snow.

For those disliking the 'skeeters: consider putting up some bat houses and bird houses this month and next so that they are in place well ahead of the spring migration. My bluebirds have been hanging out at their boxes all winter thus far.
