I know there are a lot of dog breeders in Barry Country. Would you characterize them as responsible and honest?

Some are, some aren't. The dog breeders I've seen have spent a lot of money for their breeding stock, so they are fed well; have vet checks - that sort of thing. However they are treated less as pets and more as livestock.

Do they exercise the animals?

I would say check with AKC in the area or Department od Agriculture.Either should lead you to a good Breeder.

Define "exercise". Do you mean take them out and play in the yard, or provide them with a run where they are free to move around? Depends entirely on the operation. I have seen some family-based facilities where the dogs lived in the house but I would not consider that a puppy mill. Some are kept in runs, some in stacked cages. Not a pleasant thought but there you are. Your question is veiled- what exactly are you asking?

I came across this article and wondered what people that live in the state might have to say about the commercial breeders in their area.
