Default Best Time To Visit

I don't recieve many replies to my messages, but I do hope you could give me just a little advice.

I'd love to visit Springfield in the autumn as I think it would be good time to be there. Would September be the best month, or would I have a better chance of seeing those beautiful fall colors in October? Does your fall season often arrive early? It's impossible to know for sure which month would be best, but maybe one of you can tell me what month I might want to consider and I'll just take my chances. Thanks.

Best time for leaf peeping will vary depending upon moisture, temps, etc. Check these out for some info:

Thank you for the information. I read "The Lake" thread. Sounds like late in October will be the better choice to visit. And thank you ShadowCaver for the great links. In CA where I reside we don't see these beautiful colors. I'm an artist (hobby), and if I'm able to move someday to MO I'd love to paint some of the beautiful foliage.

I replied to second the vote for Carthage on the "the lake" thread, but I'd also like to add a little warning about our foliage season. It's almost always in October, but as for when peak is, it depends on the year. Some years it's very brief, too; our crazy weather can really wreak havoc on our plants and trees and the peak can vary across the state, too. Just keep in touch here on the forum and we'll let you know

Thanks la_missourienne, and I will keep in touch with this forum about the best time to visit. Our weather here in CA (northern part) has been crazy also. It's been very windy and a little on the cool side for this time of the year. My son lives in PA and he's saying the same about having crazy weather. So this must be a nationwide thing that's happening. :-)
