If you currently live in Idaho, you'll probably have no trouble whatsoever adjusting to a predominently LDS population. Many parts of Idaho are far more conservative than St. George.

Percentage of mormons in St. George is probably lower than you would think...alot lower than northern Utah. There are not all retired people as I had thought it was. When we looked at homes there, I realized there are all ages of people that live there. As Katzpur said you probably won't have any trouble adjusting to the environment and the Lds people. St. George is a great place! We don't live there yet but will in the next 3 yers.

I don't live in St. George. I live in the Greater Salt Lake area. I do travel to St. George pretty frequently though. I would never move there with young children. The area is very conservative in a cultural and political sense. I don't think the LDS population consciously tries to exclude outsiders even in St. George. However, the way the religion is structured the other kids will spend all their time in school, in seminary, in church, or involved in extended family activities. If you are not LDS, your children will have very little opportunity to interact with over 60% of the young people around them. The situation is much better in the Salt Lake area where there is much more diversity and there is a bigger population.

I'd come to St. George to retire after my kids had grown up. Or, you can always come to sightsee the adjacent areas and have a wonderful vacation. Otherwise, I don't think I would come.

Default No problem

If your kids are good kids and involved in sports they should have no problems whatsoever. But if you have kids that are non lds and rebellious then it would be a lot harder. The people that have a hard time are the reserved/shy non LDS and that is because neither sides go out of there way to meet eachother. Many of the people here grew up here and have family, so there is no real effort on their part to meet or welcome others. If you are outgoing and make an effort to be involved in the community or your kids schools you should do just fine.
