My husband and I are going to retire in St George, and are soon closing on a lot. Now the fun begins.

We live out of state, and although I can make occasional visits during construction, I need a contractor I can rely on. Before that, I need an architect/designer I can work with.

The lot is in Stone Cliff, and there are significant design requirements and restrictions, we need quality inside and out.

Yet, I don't want to pay big for a name, if there are reliable locals we can work with.

I have recommendations from our realtor, but I don't want to just take one designer and builder and run with it without considering more options.

What have your experiences been like with your builder? Are there any you would steer clear of?

Check out biggerpockets.com under the new construction/development forum. There are a lot of home builder types from different states that discuss topics there. I bet you could get some leads on a good home builder. I noticed there was a guy on the forum that was building homes in St. George at one time.
