Default Teaching in St. George/Washington County

I would also like to move to the St. George/Washington County area. I have family that moved there 10 years ago from the midwest. I am now ready to leave the midwest and head to a new climate. I realize that your pay scale is not the greatest out there. What can we expect for rental costs the first year? Are landlords pet friendly? We would be looking for a 3 bd home to rent. We would be open to a rent/optional buy for the future. I was there over Christmas and drove to Hurricane. How many people actually live there? And how much cheaper is the real estate in Hurricane compared to St. George.

Are there any jobs that pay more than $10 per hour to start for middle aged men?

Any advice for the good or bad about St. George, Washington County, the school districts......etc would be greatly appreciated. This would be a major change for us and we want to make the right decision.

Thanks in advance for your replies.

Utah has a serious shortage of teachers. They have increased their pay in recent years. You shouldn't have any trouble finding a teaching job.

St. George is booming. Housing is getting expensive there.

Good luck!

Landlords are NOT, I repeat NOT pet friendly. My husband and I can't find ANYWHERE here that will accept pets, unless you're renting someone's "investment" that they bought at the tail end of the housing boom and now are stuck with and can't afford... for like $1,800 - $2,500 a month. It's ridiculous.

Oh, I just re-read your post. You're willing to look at lease with option to buy, like I said, due to these silly "investors" there are more of those than usual. Hurricane is cheaper than St George, and they (oddly enough) seem to have more pet-friendly landlords. A really good website is that of a local classifieds paper, Pioneer Shopper - it has lists of rentals - no pics, but it gives a general idea.

Default teaching in st. George/Washington Count

Thank you for your replies. I have now accepted a teaching position in St. George and I need a pet friendly landlord. I will need to rent a house or rent with an option to buy at first. I'm hoping I can find someone.
