Ditto on that Predos! I do not live in Utah but I do frequent several areas in your beautiful state. St. George being one of them. I am not Mormon either but I do have many close Mormon friends and I personally admire the Mormon people, as I think they are a very genteel, compassionate and kind hearted people!
The main stream left wing media, however, sadly continues many biased and prejudiced assaults on the Mormon religion, as does Hollywood with their new Mormon hating series Big Love.

Do you really think that you will find a truth, let alone the truth on the internet?

I actually enjoy Big Love immensely - it's not like they're portraying mainstream Mormonism in Big Love. The first episode even features a disclaimer that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints abolished polygamy in 1890. I have never seen anything against mainstream LDS in there. And it's nothing new either, it's been on the air since 2006.

I enjoy "Big Love" too. There are just enough references to specific places and institutions in Utah that it keeps me interested. I'm not sure how realistic the show is. I wonder if the screenwriters get advice from real polygamists?

The truth probably is that some unhappy non Mormons probably can't stand that there ARE happy non Mormons in Utah.

I actually met a non-mormon today here in Oklahoma at my work. A client came into our office and found out that I used to live in Utah. I asked her where she used to live and she said in Nephi, UT. I asked her how she liked it. She said she had never had better neighbors and everyone was so friendly. She also said "I thought they would try to make a mormon out of me but they didn't". She said she would move back there if she could but her husband passed away so she came back to Oklahoma so she could be close to her family. I guess my point is there really are some non-mormons that have a good experience in Utah.......and then there are some that don't....as anywhere.

That is true. Although I had some good times in NJ, that isn't where I was really happy. Although my best friend still lives there. Across the street from the house she grew up in, as a matter of fact. That is her home and where she is happy. There are bound to be people that love where they live and people that hate that same place.
Ah, freedom of choice is a lovely thing, isn't it?

I'm not sure, but I know they spent three years prior to the airing of the pilot researching polygamy and Utah. They probably threw in some real polygamists somewhere.
