1 month out from our family trip while the kids are on spring break. This year will be our first headed to St. George area. We'll probably do a day zion with easier hikes and the perhaps a in Red cliffs.

Are there any other suggestions for must do's in the St. George area for those with younger kids?

Snow Canyon State Park is very close to St. George (Zion is 50 miles away) with lots of hiking through red rock country.

Pioneer Park is close by with some fun spots like The Narrows and mini-arches to scramble on.

Gunlock reservoir may be a good stop if the water is still running down the falls.

And Pine Valley is really pretty with a well maintained paved walking trail; there is an entrance fee.

Be sure to check out Johnson Canyon Arch Trail before getting to the entrance pay station coming up from the south entrance to Snow Canyon. Scenic and easy trail.

Thank you! Will be 55-60 over the next few days so perfect hiking weather. About 15 degrees warmer here than slc which is a nice change.

The whole family may enjoy this:

https://utahdinosaurs.org/

It is not far from Costco St. George (same road, IIRC). They have great exhibits - and you can see paleontologists working on the other side of a glass partition. When we were there, they were carefully clearing dinosaur foot prints.

Quote:
The history of the museum begins in 2000, when local optometrist, Dr. Sheldon Johnson, was leveling a hill on his property. After removing several feet of topsoil, he came across a thick sandstone layer. This layer was the “paleontological jackpot”: dinosaur footprints! Dr. Johnson and his wife, LaVerna, decided to share the tracks with the world, opening their farm to the public. Within a few months, trained paleontologists from around the state, plus hundreds of volunteers, helped uncover thousands of fossils. Utah Paleontologist, Jim Kirkland has said, “The St. George track site is not only the oldest Jurassic dinosaur site in Utah, it is the best basal Jurassic track site in western North America.” Together with scientists, businesses, and government officials on the local, state, and national levels, the Johnsons and the DinosaurAH!torium Foundation raised enough funds to build a museum. In 2005, the St. George Dinosaur Discovery Site at Johnson Farm opened its doors and has served over 500,000 visitors.

We did 3 hikes at snow canyon yesterday are going to do pioneer park and a few hikes (red cliffs) today then try out the atv tour and Zion tomorrow. Crazy weather it snowed last night when we went to the pool / jacuzzi but was warm during the day.

A late suggestion, but another option to Zion if crowded is Kolob Canyons on the west side of Zion and easily accessible from St. George.

Great scenic one way drive in & out with plenty of trail options.
