Which area to move to in and around St. George
Hello All
Wanting to move to the St. George area but dont really know the best place to start looking. I have 2 kids 12yr old son 15 yr old daughter and so I am looking for a couple of things. Good Schools, close to shopping (1-10 miles) to Costco, Target, Kohls, Home Depot, etc.
What is the best place to move to?
----St. George, Santa Clara, Washington, Ivins????----
Looking to spend about $300-350K, but want 4 bed 3 bath about 3000 sq ft less than 5 years old!
Any suggestions on what neighborhoods to look at would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Ivins and Santa Clara are nice, but are on the opposite side of town from all the shopping and on a good day the drive can take 20 mins, on a bad day more.
Washington is just down the road from all those and is a nice little place, although there has been a lot of gang activity rumored over there. Washington Fields also has a lot of very nice homes. Green Springs is just on the other side of the freeway from all the businesses you mentioned and has some beautiful homes over that way.
As for St. George neighborhoods, I would stay away from Dixie Downs area. Bloomington is nice and has more of the type of home you are looking for and the schools over here are newer. There is a new high school opening in the fall. All you have to do is hop on the freeway and it's an easy ride to Costco, Home Depot, etc. Bloomington Hills is a very nice neighborhood with lots of lovely homes but the homes are mostly older, as it is an older neighborhood.
Green Valley is nice, but farther away as well. Hidden Valley has a lot of newer homes and is just a short hop from the freeway as well. Little Valley is also very nice but no real easy access to anything, but really, it's not hard to get anywhere in St. George. Once you figure out all the back roads, etc., it's really easy.

I think you will be pleasantly surprised to see what is available in that price range. Due to the overbuilding in the past few years it is a buyers market. Here is one example

Dogmom IS here! I have already sent smbinaz an email with more info and pics..we might be a tad over her budget, but things can be worked out.
We are about a mile off of the interstate, very close to the major shopping so it's very convenient! Kohl's, Roberts, Costco, Office Max, Wal Mart, Home Depot, In n Out burgers, lots of restaurants, movie theatres...close to everything...The reason I am glad we moved to Green Spring is because of the closeness to everything, yet it's quiet and family friendly. If you are out in Ivins, Santa Clara and even the west side of St. George, it just takes a while to get to the things you want to do. Now there are lovely homes in many areas, I am just biased, I guess...but with gas prices the way they are, close is good.
Anyway, heading to bed, long day tomorrow, 3 hour drive from my sis's house in western IL to chicago midway, return the car rental, check in and the flight to Vegas, then the 1 1/2 hr drive home from there. Hubby will be picking me up, so at least I can nap on the way back..
Later!

We were talking to a pretty big real estate investor while we were out there a couple weeks ago, and she told us that Hurricane is on it's way to becoming the next St George. Lots of developming going out there right now.

Thanks I will take a look at that area too. Hope to go out week after next. Have to go to Des Moines this week but hope to make it to St. George before the kids start school!
