Can anyone tell me about St. George, UT?
I will be moving to St. George, ut in the next couple of weeks. I would like to know how it is out there and everyone treats you if your not mormon. I do have teenageers and I want them to fit in but Im alittle worried they wont and they might have a hard time. Can anyone help me? My husband and I are pretty easy going people, we do like to drink I heard that it may be difficult to find alcohol is this true? We both work but we are tired of living in Las Vegas, not the place to raise kids. Please help. Im also looking for a 4 bd to rent.

i think you may have posted in the wrong place... however from what I have seen of the st. george/washington area... it looks like it would be a nice place to live. I really like the houses up on the mesas in the area!

St. George is a great place to live. We love it here. Alcohol is not hard to find...I don't drink but all the stores sell beer and there is 2 state liquor stores here plus mesquite is about 30 minutes away. My friend buys all her stuff in Mesquite cause the prices are so much better.
As far as being ostracized or whatever because you aren't Mormon....sooo over that dead horse. It's all about what you make of it. If you come with preconceived notions about how people are gonna treat you because of religion, well.....sorry, but I can't help you there.
As far as rentals go, finding a 4 bedroom is kinda hard here. The ones that are available rent for around $1400=$1500. We are in a 3 bedroom (for a few more days, then we are moving) and it rents for $1000. Its a nice area..southern end of St. George, about 4 miles from the UT/AZ border, close to Wal-Mart and a brand new high school that just opened this school year (today was the first day of school here.)

You will be just fine in St. George. From what I am hearing through talking to people (as I am going to move there too) is that most of the people there are transplants from other areas, or retired or going to college etc. Utah is not 98 percent mormon or whatever percentage that people want to throw out there. A long, long, long time ago it used to be but it's not now. I don't know anything about renting a house however. Maybe you will have to go to a real estate site for that as people can't really advertise on here.

You say you're in Las Vegas? Expect the climate to be similar, if not the same, in St. George. It's about 100 or so miles away and a few hundred feet higher up in elevation. Basically, the winters are the same in LV and SG.

Wonder what the weather will be like this Sunday, Monday, Tuesday...that's when I will be there. Hopefully not more than 110 but if it is its the "dry heat"...yeah! Getting out of this humidity here for a week.

A cool front is coming through, first time since May!
Possibility of rain for today and Sunday, clearing Monday and cool 90's and 60'/70's at night!
