St George restaurants
I have been taking a few trips up to St George and want to know some good restaurants where I can go with friends
I don't care for chains, I checked out the Village Inn and Denny's
Anything recommended that is not too overpriced?
Is there a local joint?
thanks in advance

Cafe Rio. It's a local chain, though the first Cafe Rio did open in St George. I think the only one in the city is on St George Blvd; anyway, that place is good. We have several up here in Salt Lake and it's a definite local favorite. I recommend you check it out, though a lot of the time it's packed. Their site is on http://www.caferio.com

Not much to choose from other than chain!
Fairway Grill is coffee shop/diner style, better than Denny's tho!
Bear Paw Cafe is a smaller, cozier place.
Ancestor Square has a few places that are nice, Benji Thai and Painted Pony, little more $$
Have you checked out Springdale?

If you like buffets, there's a pretty good place near Costco in Washington City... Lucky Buffet - Chinese. Also, in the Zion Mall near I-15 is a local "Mongolian BBQ". The gal that owns that is really working hard to bring family here that has been stuck in Viet Nam for nearly 40 years.
Other places we like include Wingers, and Iggy's as well as Ted and Allen's Sports Bar in Hurricane.

I have seen a Mongolian BBQ at or near that outlet mall off I-15, is that the one you're talking about?

Yep, that's the one. It's quite inexpensive. You can choose from three different sized bowls, choose what you want and it is cooked right in front of you.
The lady who owns the restaurant is a real sweetie, not to mention a very hard worker. I love to support local entrepreneurs and she fits the bill. Let's put it this way, you'll find a lot of Asians frequenting the place. They know a good deal in food, price, and emotional support.

I prefer Durango's... It's like Cafe Rio... but better, hehe. It's located in the Prominade Mall, across the parking lot from Hollywood Video.

The Japanese restaurant next to Durangos is great - I think it's Samurai 21. Fun and festive, they prepare food at a communal grill everyone sits around. Great for kids!

Did make it in there. Great food, friendly people and a show to prepare your food. The decor could have been a bit better, but overall its a great place! I would now recommend it also
