Default Dog life and moving to the Ivins/St.George area

I am thinking of moving to the area and have 2 dogs. Is this a dog-friendly place? Are there any dog parks? Also, does anyone know whether the PUDs allow invisible fencing?

We am moving there also. I don't know about dog parks because I have cats, biut I know there are trails everywhere. We are moving to Coral Canyon and were there a few weeks ago when we bought the house and there were people everywhere we their dogs on the trails around our property

Thanks Chickrae, we have just begun our search and Coral Canyon looks lovely. I guess we'll be taking a trip out there soon (we live in RI currently and are growing tired of the cold, taxes, etc.) We will spend several days exploring St.George, Ivins, Hurricane areas. Our dogs are very sweet and gentle I just don't want them running off so some sort of fence, would be required.
Good luck moving and I hope you enjoy it!

I moved to Ivins from Vegas 5 years ago and found it to be not as dog-friendly as Vegas. But things are changing. There is finally a dog park in downtown St. George. Also there is an after-hours emergency vet that opened a couple of years ago. (I still drive to Vegas to my favorite vet as so one here compares to her.) There is a wonderful no-kill shelter in Ivins that is currently being renovated and expanded. We do end up with a lot of dogs being dumped here, and many people are guilty of letting their dogs roam free. There is a group called PAWS that fosters dogs and does wonderful work helping pets get adopted. Overall I would say Ivins and St. George are becoming more and more dog-friendly. It is a great place to walk your dogs. Do be careful of the various weed seeds that are in the area that can cause harm to your pet. I panicked after moving here because I heard horror stories of what foxtail weeds can do, but one just needs to be vigilant during the season for those and check their dogs' toes and pads often. Other things to watch for on the outskirts of town are coyotes and hawks (if you have a small dog or puppy). There are plenty of good groomers in town, and we have a Petco too.
