St.George Beltline Hwy?
Currently we're doing research on potential retirement locations, and the Greater St. George area is on our shortlist. I've come across several postings on multiple sites that reference a beltline hwy that would hopefully take the traffic load off the surface streets in downtown St. George (mainly for those people north of SG heading to I-15).
What I can't determine, even from the state and local sites, is if this is a done deal, or just wishful thinking. I certainly can see the benefits, but find it hard to believe that the powers that be would run a highway thru established subdivisions, such as Sunriver. I'm guessing that the overall value of homes in that area would drop if the beltline split their community just to get to a specific exchange on I-15. There must be concerns on the east side of I-15 as the beltline runs out by the proposed airport, and then runs north into established areas in order to join the Washington/Hurricane area into the beltline.
So, does anyone know if this is going to happen? Are there any definitive maps out there, so I can make sure I don't purchase a home that ends up with a stunning view of an onramp sometime in the future?
We'll be in SG in mid April checking out the community, so we plan on stopping at City Hall to get an offiicial response.
Thanks in advance.
