I was just checking the Washington County property tax breakdowns, and noticed the Southwest Mosquito Abatement & Control District. So, are mosquitos a countywide problem? Like to the degree where the District fogs the neighborhoods with bug killer? Or is this just a problem in low lying property near the river? And is this a seasonal issue, or all year long?
Hopefully someone from the area will be able to enlighten me. Thanks in advance!

One of the major reasons we in the United States do not suffer from Malaria is due to mosquito abatement programs. Wherever there is standing water, there is a breeding ground for the female Anopheles mosquito, which is the vector (carrier) of the disease.
There are mosquito abatement programs all over the United States. Because of the abatement district in Washington County, you will find it relatively mosquito free and you won’t need to take daily doses of quinine sulfate or other antimalarials.
