On a happy note, Dr. Isom said today they will not lay off 65 officers through attrition.

Umm no. The idea to cut police officers, which was really letting 65 retire without replacing them with new academy recruits, came up recently when the Police received $1 million less for the budget while having rising costs elsewhere within the dept. The Firefighter issue has been going on for awhile. If everyone had taken the Fire budget talks that have been going on for a few years more seriously instead of ****ing around fire fighter jobs would not be in jeopardy today. Too many games were played and now the young fire fighters will be paying the costs with loss of their dream job.

Before I get into my rant below, keep in mind that I abhor inefficiencies and waste, and that when and if budgets need to be adjusted, when given certain circumstances, they should be, but while still working on making the business better.

As much as I love the Blues [hockey, and also the music] and to lesser extent the Cards & Rams, I have an extremely hard time grasping how the important peoples such as police, firefighters, teachers, etc. get the short end, yet people who play games professionally for a living rake in so much... and its the tax payers [ie: us all] that are supporting one at the expense of the other, via it tickets, jerseys, on-demand, etc. LOL, funny how so often some people that squawk the loudest about not wanting to pay a small bit more for taxes to fund such improvements, will be some that have no problem at spending many 100's of dollars on sports and related items.
