How come there is no NBA in St Louis?
St Louis has a metro of 3 million people. How come there is no NBA team?

Not quite 3 million people...more like 2.75-2.9 million. There is no NBA team simply because generally cities our size do not have teams in all four leagues....Cleveland, Pittsburgh, and Seattle have no more than three teams of each of the four big professional sports (NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL)....I think there could be a basketball team here...it's all about demand I guess...frankly I think we should get a basketball team...we had the Hawks at one point. I would imagine us getting an NBA team though somewhere down the road though.

Saint Louis hosts a pre-season NBA game almost every year. It draws about 7to 10 thousand hard core fans. I think the areas sports dollars are about maxed out.
I used to be a big NBA fan back in the Bird/Magic/Jordan days. No so much anymore, I won't pay to watch trash talkin' black dudes travel and showboat.
If the game would get back to it's roots then maybe I would toss a few of my hard earned dollars their way.

Would you like it more if the trash talkers, walkers and showboaters were white?I don't find the NBA game very appealing either, but race has nothing to do with it. Smaller market teams like Memphis, Orlando and San Antonio do not have to compete with other major league sports teams. STL has their beloved Cardinals and an NFL franchise, which is as big as it gets in the pro sports world. I would rather see the city get behind the rising Saint Louis University basketball program than try to bribe an NBA team to locate here with a shiny new taxpayer funded arena, the way Memphis did.

I don't care if they are black, white or green. The NBA ain't what it used to be and won't get my dollars. I referenced black because 97% of most NBA rosters are black.
Nice attempt at trying to turn this into a race issue but you are way off the mark.

Could also ask the same question regarding professional soccer. Especially considering the regions affinity for soccer; a strong place for players, at least at one time, don't know if still is tho'... I recall the original Steamers, had heck of a great time at those games. btw, the older logo was, IMHO, much better than the new version.
Anyhow, regarding basketball, as mentioned above, the city/region is so focused on baseball, with football second, and then my beloved Blues a third. I really don't think that the region is strong enough for all four sports, esp. with the colleges and HS activities too. Me, basketball is not much of an interest - besides the Celtics and the Bulls of yonder days, not much that I care to see of the rich cry boys playing today. But, overall, there are just so many varied interests now that demand attention and a person's dollars.

St. Louis will likely be getting an eventual MLS soccer team. Costs are less, and season is pretty short in summer...less than 40 games, seeking similar crowd size.
Having LONG NHL and NBA seasons competing head to head in St. Louis, after the Cardinals 3 million plus fans per year....a lot to ask of a less than 3 million metro.
...a little easier to buy season tix to Rams....for 8 home games and two pre-season games.
Basketball is very popular in STL...at many levels. And many decades ago the Spirits and Hawks played in STL.

If only 97% of the NBA is black, then the other 3% aren't trash talkin' traveling show boaters? Because if you don't care if they are black, white or green, then why did you specifically point out "black" in your example. Don't try to act like someone else was making it a race issue when it wasn't, you are the one that made it a race issue.

Well since you asked...the other 3% are tall slow white guys who can't jump and get beat up on as practice dummies. They are lucky if they see the court during a real game once a month or so, so yeah...it is black dudes and no it isn't a race issue, at least for me it's not, you on the other hand, maybe it is.
It's not racist...it's an adverb!!!
Egads...now I have offended the tall slow white guys of the world!

Forget about having an intelligent conversation with Mr. Racial Stereotype Juice.
I guess he's never heard of Steve Nash or Dirk Nowinski(sp?)
