I walk through Compton Heights almost daily. The houses are beautiful, amazing architecture and I always see several children playing. There are at least 3 walkable restaurants, a small gym, tailor, soon to be a dry cleaners.

And you're a long walk or easy bike ride to the heart of the South Grand strip.

and one mile East and you are in Soulard. Sometimes I wake up in the morning, get on my bike to go to the farmers market and have to think about which direction I want to go in, Tower Grove or Soulard, we are pretty much right smack in the middle?

Jealous!

We were in St. Louis this weekend looking at wedding venues (and we picked one!) and it was so bittersweet. I am loving planning my STL wedding, but damn does it make me wish we were currently living there!

You should really consider looking at University City if you like the charm of the architecture in Compton Heights but prefer greater family orientation. The U City subdivisions of Parkview and Ames Place have incredible older housing stock and the area is quite safe and dense with affluent young families. The nearby Delmar Loop (Delmar St between Skinker and Trinity) has everything you need in terms of nightlife and entertainment and Forest Park is <1 mile away.
