We are staying in fairview heights, Il and are going to visit the arch on friday. where on our way should we stop to get a great picture of the arch? Maybe a park or something?

Pretty much anywhere in the downtown area affords a great view of the arch...you can get some awesome shots from lots of different vantage points. Hope you enjoy your visit! Welcome to St. Louis!

Best view w/ the skyline also would probably be from the East side of the river...maybe the Casino Queen parking lot. From the Missouri side, anyway along the mall from Kiener Plaza, the Old Federal Courthouse, or even directly under the arch itself.

I like the view right down Market St. Plus, you can snap some pictures of the sculptures in citygarden while you are there.

If you can afford to, I recommend taking one of the helicopter tours of STL down on the riverfront. While in the helicopter, you have some very unique perspectives of the arch to photograph. I did this a couple years ago and got some fantastic shots.

That's what I was thinking, awesome view from there. The only problem is that you will spend a few hours removing the powerlines from the photos that cross in front of the arch .
