I get sick and tired of people complaining about an athlete getting a huge contract. He is an entertainer, plain and simple. Some movie stars can make a 100 million in one year, some make 50 million PER MOVIE but i never hear anyone complain about movie or music stars getting all these huge sums. I think Tyler Perry is pulling in about a 120 million a year churning out those Madea movies.

Madea....is totally overrated. Just sayin'. Though I watch all of his movies, just to watch her.

But there is more fan loyalism in sports than movies. "Us" vs "them".

Seriously who would turn down a job offer that pays more? Forget location.
On this planet Money Talks...

In Cleveland they expected Lebron to stay and continue to carry their team. They whined when he left because they knew their team sucked without him.
The Cardinals will still at least compete without Albert
.
Agreed.

True, sports teams are more tied to a specific city than some movie made in LA

I'm sorry, but I'd rather buy you a beer at the next game then clap for this clown. Good luck to him...hopefully this means some young kid get's called up from Springfield and can play in the majors and fulfill his dream.
I am so going to be better than Steve Jobs when I graduate, lol.

I think you're right. Especially considering I'll be creating jobs.

I'm going to have like 5 satellite sites and will make sure one is in STL city.

The Cards have a long tradition of excellence, and a solid fan base. They will do fine.

At least Pujols didn't wind up with the (now highly-dysfunctional) Dodgers.

But lets be honest - Who wouldn't turn down the chance to live in Southern California along with a nice big fat raise?

Can anyone really blame him for taking that contract? He gets to live in Sunny California making 25 million a year hitting a ball.

Honestly, the Cardinals are better off without him. That is far too much money to spend on a 32 year old baseball player.

A lot of balls players live in LA or whereever they like anyway -- they're travelling most of the year so I don't see that it matters all that much anyway.

On the flip side, who would turn down the opportunity to be one of the richest and most well loved men in a city? He could have lived a dream life here, been near his family, and been a freakin hero. Lots of guys have enjoyed doing just that -- I see Ozzie Smith at Schnucks all the time and people are so happy to see him.

There are always some idiots out there but most of the fans I've heard call in to sports radio in STL today have wished Pujols well and think the Cardinals were smart in the long run not to get tied up for 10 years with a contract like that.

And this way, the Man stays the greatest Cardinal of all time FOR ALL TIME!
