I recently read that St. Louis schools are not accredited. Is this true?

Here is the website for St. Louis schools: St. Louis Public School District. If you look about a third of the way down on the page, you will see a link to the news publication released by the district regarding accreditation. I would also recommend you google the district and read news articles about the school district. It has been in the news for sometime, and I know everyone would like to see a turnaround. Maybe the new Superintendent will make it happen. I hope for St. Louis she does. Good luck and I hope that helps!

In St. Louis City, none of the public schools are accredited by the state. Many, however, are accredited by independent accrediting agencies, which means that their graduates will have no problems applying to colleges and the diplomas are valid.

All of the Catholic High Schools are accredited.

What you heard is correct, but it is a little confusing. It is true that the St. Louis Public School District lost it's accreditation last year, but that district is only the public shcools in St. Louis City, not the county, or any of the Catholic or Private schools. There are 30 Catholic High Schools in the Archdiocese of St. Louis, all of which are accredited. In addition to these, all of the public high schools in St. Louis County are accredited (I think). Hope i can help...

Riverview Garden lost their accreditation too if I remember correctly. I had a friend that went there and she mentioned it. It's a damn shame they let the city schools get so bad. St Louis won't be able to attract families back to the city until they do something about this issue.
