Smile weather St. Louis vs Tulsa

I just want to know, are the summers in Tulsa as hot and humid as in St. Louis? Thank you

They're worse than St. Louis, are you kidding me? Tulsa is about 200 miles to the south in terms of latitude. Not to mention it is on the Plains, so the heat is even worse. Winters there are better though...less snow than here, usually not as cold, although wind chills might be fairly unpleasant.

Oh, great, I was hoping that the weather here in St. Louis isn't as bad as Tulsa. I lived in Tulsa before (during spring and part of the summer) and it was pretty awful. I just moved to St. Louis and I was a bit worried about the summer here, but if it isn't as bad, I am quite happy.

^Definitely not as bad. Nothing to scoff at however! But it's perfect for water activities -- and there are some great rivers, lakes and streams just outside the city to enjoy.

You should probably ask this in the Tulsa forum, not St Louis. Tulsa gets hotter temps, less rain and more wind. Although the weather in Tulsa is a lot more similar to St louis than it would be for OKC. Tulsa gets significantly more rain and humidity than OKC, so it's starts transitioning to more of a similar climate like St Louis.

Why do you think I would get more or different response on the Tulsa forum. I just need some people here in St. Louis who have lived in Tulsa too. And why do you compare Tulsa with Oklahoma City? That doesn't really help me, you know.

Cool, I love water activities - can you point me in the right direction, please? What rivers (I don't think the Mississippi and the Missouri are good for water activities or am I wrong), lakes and streams are you thinking of?

When the weather is nice you'll find half of St. Louis emptying out along I-44.

Float trips are a huge summer-weather activity (I just planned one down to St. James, MO for June with my newly married friend and her husband and couldn't be more excited!)

One of my favorite places on Earth is Huzzah Valley, a campground (with cabins too if you're not a big primitive camper) in Steelville. In my opinion there are few things better in this life than a leisurely day float down the Courtois (pronounced, in truly odd Missouri fashion the Court-away) with friends followed by some grilling and partying.

For longer, multi-day floats a lot of folks love the Meramec River -- plenty of sandbars on which to set up camp for the night.

As far as lakes go, the most popular (and what folks will be referring to when they say they're headed to "the lake" is the Lake of the Ozarks -- the largest man-made lake in the Midwest. It's extremely popular for families and has both its incredibly busy parts and its very quiet parts.

You can rent a house or condo down there or stay at the Lake of the Ozarks State Park (MO's largest state park) which has both primitive and RV camping (that overlooks the lake and is gorgeous) as well as some primitive cabins (no electric or running water inside).

Typically, most folks' main goal when down there is to get as drunk as possible while on a boat, but I do know folks who fish down there as well -- the "fingers" created by damming up the Osage River, make for tons of shoreline and little areas perfect for catching bass, catfish and crappie.

Other lake options abound however and most are somewhat quieter. Those would include Truman, Mark Twain and Table Rock.

Oh and, believe it or not, plenty of folks actually do boat on the Missouri and Mississippi rivers -- several people I've known have had boats and kept them at Lake Center Marina in St. Charles; I'm sure there are others in the area.

Thank you aragx6 for all your great advice. I will have a look at Huzzah valley when the weather gets warmer and I have home time. I am OTR most of the time. Do they allow dogs in the cabins? Do you know? We have a Lab.
