Ok,

My wife and I are going to the Peabody tomorrow night and are looking for dinner suggestions. We're not carrying to much for which style of food, but we know we want to avoid chains and are planning on eating in the city (somewhere in a general vicinity to our commute...can be I-70 from the county, or I-170 - 64 from the county.) I'm just wanting to see what types of places everyone recommends and we who knows, we might actually try it. Nothing Indian (My wife can't deal w/ spicy). I appreciate any help that's provided, thanks in advance!

I'm a big fan of 1111 Mississippi, which is convenient to the Peabody. They are on the pricey side, though not extraordinarily so. Nice atmosphere, good service, quality fare. There are a few places on Washington I would recommend, too, like Copia Wine Bar (serve up some big portions of high grade meat!) and an American Place (also expensive, but the dining room is a grand old bank lobby). Enjoy the evening, wherever you go.

1111 is great but you can't beat Vin de Set (same owners)

I haven't ventured downtown for any food since moving here, but there are some pretty good options I know of around the 170-64 interchange. Mai Lee is a Vietnamese/Chinese Restaurant that is right behind Best Buy on Eager Road. It's about 1/2 mile from the 64/170 interchange. If you like Mongolian BBQ there is a place on Manchester and Rock Hill Road called Altai. I guess it is a chain, but this is the only location in the entire United States (there are 3 in Mongolia, 1 in China, and 1 in Russia). It's a little out of the way as you have to go a few miles south on Brentwood then a mile or so east on Manchester. But I thought I'd throw it out as it's my favorite restaurant in the area. Right across the street from Altai is The Gumbo Shop which has great Cajun food.

Thanks for the suggestions...I probably should have put a general price tag, about $15/plate...not looking for anything to fancy, planning on wearing jeans and enjoying a comedy show after. Thanks, any semi-cheap examples

That is a great place, my wife and I did it on my birthday to satisfy my food desires and motorcycle love at the same time!
