^Beautiful home; I hope someone comes forward and will buy and restore it to its former grandeur. Any idea what they're asking for the property?

I've been trying to find out what the deal is all morning.....of course, the paper neglected to mention who the property was listed with.
Tearing down this house would be akin to knocking down one of the fabulous homes in Compton Heights in terms of what it would do to the neighborhood its in.

It's crazy to see Wash U moving forward with very progressive plans for the surrounding neighborhoods while SLU is going in the totally opposite direction. I wonder who is going to the most successful in recruiting top talent? lol

The one the offers the best scholarships or job prospects to their students :P

Arag,

That's interesting about the historic places...A good friend of mine purchased a warehouse in ONSL and was taking advantage of the historic tax credits, and specifically stated that there they had requirements on the outward appearance of the building. The interior was up to them, but there were stipulations involved in that too, but I can't remember what.

^That's tax credits from the state of MO. To get those you do have to play by the rules for maintaining the historic integrity of the building. (Fair, no?)

Totally different than the National Register, which is literally just that -- a list of properties deemed worth preserving in the US.

Also it should be noted there are Historic Districts, which often run themselves essentially as HOAs and do have building restrictions associated with them.

Thanks, makes a lot of sense. I don't really see much issue with it, typically if you're applying for historic home tax credits, I'd expect part of what you're wanting is the historic nature of the home, or in their case, warehouse.

Not to go too much off-topic, but there is going to be a meeting about saving the house I posted about earlier at Ocala City Hall on the 1st.
A professor from the University of Florida has put it together.
Guess whos gonna be there with all her friends?

Anybody see the irony here? If anybody isn't familiar with the building it was razed in 2007 and replaced with a sculpture park (Grand at Lindell)! Welcome to Biondi's renaissance
