I also consider Kirkwood/ Webster Groves to be 'West County' although I realize that's a whole other debate.
You've just labeled virtually all of mid-county as West County.

The simple fact you would include a place like Clayton or Webster Groves shows me you have no concept of what you are discussing. Those places are literally walking distance from the city limits. Ladue, Frontenac, and Kirkwood are more or less smack dab in the middle of the St. Louis County. Overland as West County? Again, ignorance...Overland is at most 3 miles from the city limits. Let's put St. Louis in Illinois while we're at it.

The farthest east I would extend the boundary of West County would be Lindbergh Blvd. if I were in a generous mood. I-270 has long been considered the boundary...so what if West County mall is called what it is? It's literally right on the border, so what's the harm in calling it that?

^I think you struggle with admitting some people, often long-time St. Louis metro residents, could possibly have an opinion which differs from you. My mother's parents moved to the boonies of Creve Coeur before I-270 was even completed and at that time, and in many people's current considerations, places like Frontenac, Huntleigh, Glendale etc. were most certainly considered West County. Overland? Clayton? Certainly not, and there I agree with you, but we're talking about very arbitrary borders here, and it's by no means a certainty that everyone is going to agree on where those are.

Touchy, touchy!

In my time living in St. Louis- I honestly never heard anyone use the term 'Mid County'. It was always South County, West County or North County.

Maybe I just didn't know anybody from 'Mid' County?

You've never heard the term? Ever? You either haven't lived here, or you haven't been here as long as I have. I've lived here for over 20 years. Mid-County has been used for years. It represents the area east of I-270, south of Page, north of I-44, and west of the city limits. West County has never been synonymous with any of the areas you use. It has always been used to refer to areas west of I-270, south of I-70, and north of I-44. Places like Des Peres, Maryland Heights, Ballwin, Manchester, Chesterfield, Town and Country, Lafayette, and some parts of Creve Couer and Olivette are what comprise West County.

Oh my god, did you seriously not even read what I said -- or did you just choose to willfully ignore it? Congrtulations on living in St. Louis for more than 20 years but my family has been here for many times that and I'm telling you right now that before 270 was built loads of areas outside of your perfect little designation were, and frankly still are by many, considered West County.

LOL. Mid-County is a very real and widely accepted definition. Those who won't accept it don't want to admit that West County is very different today. I didn't make it up. Go ahead and google it if you think I'm wrong. You need to keep in mind that places west of what is now I-270 were not nearly as heavily developed back when your parents were growing up. West County's definition has changed dramatically.

St. Louis County, Missouri - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

And don't accuse me of changing it...I haven't done a damn thing to it. This was how I found it.

The West County Chamber Website

That last one is the official west county website, so there is no way I could've changed this.

Also, don't take my inventory. I know people are going to have differing opinions, but when somebody has an opinion that is so obviously wrong, I am going to argue tooth and nail against it. And West County's definition has been changing because of the increased development. So whatever definition your parents provide is outdated as far as i'm concerned. The main "Mid-County Library" is essentially in Frontenac. Maybe back when your parents were around, I could see why it would've been called West County. Today, the thought of lumping Frontenac, Huntleigh, and Glendale in with Ballwin and Chesterfield before grouping them in with the eastern portion of the county makes little sense.

Frontenac, Huntleigh, Glendale, and Kirkwood, even Creve Couer have more in common with Ladue, Clayton, Rock Hill, Webster Groves, Maplewood, Ladue, etc. West County is very new by comparison and has much more rugged topography (most of it is in the Ozark foothills).

we usually are in agreeement up to this point, so I hope this ends here.

To my knowledge, the public consensus has never been these places are West County. Your parents and their friends are entitled to their opinions, but it does not appear they were in the majority. Every St. Louisan I've ever met, young and old, has always acknowledged a Mid-County. Never once have I ever heard any of these areas grouped in there. You have your experiences, I have mine. Don't use your's to prove mine wrong. My parents have lived here for over 50 years, and they disagree with your's.

I've already had this argument before, not having it again -- also not planning to change my opinon based on a Wikipedia entry as it were.
