We will be moving to Festus soon. I'm wondering if there are any areas that I should steer clear of (bad neighborhoods or side of town?). Someone told me that they think I might be moving to the "wrong side" of town while others say it's fine. I'm confused.

I don't know a ton about Festus but my wife grew up in Pevely and works in Herculaneum. From what I can tell and know Festus is just a pretty typical rural town. I don't know that it's big enough to have a good and bad side of town.

There aren't really any "bad" areas of Festus, to my knowledge. I spent part of my time growing up in neighboring Crystal City (Festus/Crystal City call themselves "the twin cities"). I still have family living in Festus. Like Scocar said, it's a pretty typical rural town, though I'd just add that the last few years it's becoming more a bedroom community for St. Louis, experiencing 14% growth rate from 2000-2010. As such, it is much more suburbanized that when I lived there in the 80s.
