I'm moving to St. Louis soon and am looking in the Clayton area. I've noticed the prices of places on Clayton Road tend to be cheaper than comparable places that are not that far away but not on Clayton Road. Why is this? Less safe? Noisy?

All of Clayton is extremely safe, no need to worry about that.

For the same reasons that I found with the solo properties on Hanley Road in an earlier post. In most cases, you literally have the driveways abutting Clayton Road. Plus, some of the south side of Clayton Road (between Big Bend and Hanley) is not in the Clayton School district. But 1greatcity is right: there is not a safety concern on this stretch of road, pretty much the entire run from Skinker, all the way into Ladue.
