I would agree with Jefferson County - I "think" that the commute in 55 is easier than the other (44, 64, 70). If you chose Illlinois, be warned of peak traffic volumes on bridges, though with a new bridge, it may ease things a bit.

There are wonderful outdoor activities in Missouri - and I love the state parks off US 67 south of St. Louis! Jefferson County would put you close to these!!

Google Maps shows Hillsboro as being 40 miles outside of St. Louis, I don't know how you can make that in 20 minutes without driving well above the speed limit. In current traffic it shows it as being a 55 minute commute.

Um, you say you're from STL?
How do you not know this already?
I've made that drive literally thousands of times, Hillsboro is neither 40 miles out of STL, nor is it a 55 minute commute from downtown STL.
Festus is 29.6 miles from downtown, Hillsboro is north and slightly west of Festus.
I grew up in Sainte Genevieve, THATS a 55 minute commute to downtown STL.

I dont need to mapquest it.
Sainte Genevieve is 60 miles south of downtown STL, Festus is 30 miles north of Sainte Genieve, and Hillsboro is north of Festus.
I lived in the area for decades, and made that commute tens of thousands of times.
I dont believe they have moved any cities since I was in MO last winter.
Creve Coeur is at most, a 30 minute commute from Hillsboro, excepting accidents on 55 or 270.

More than an hour? How is that possible?? You must drive exceedingly slow. That should be a 30 minute commute at pretty much all hours of the day.

I do think 20 minutes from Hillsboro to downtown is pretty optimistic, but 40 minutes sounds reasonable.

That seems optimistic to me

From google maps from an address on broadway:

I-55 S

In current traffic: 50 mins
I-55 S and MO-21 S

I can't say I've made that drive thousands of times but I have made it probably a dozen times from either downtown or Clayton to Hillsboro and I usually count on about 45 minutes, give or take.

She has been making that commute for 25 years, its a straight shot up 55.
I certainly would not be making the same claim about Hillsboro to Clayton, however.
When I make the drive from Ste Gen to downtown STL, I have always made it in just under an hour, that has been recently during rush hour traffic.

Well, you can take it up with Google Maps then, since according to them it is 40 miles away.
