I'm going to look at the Winston Churchill apartments today on cabanne ave. my fiancé and I are moving to st Louis so I can attend nursing school. I was just wanting to know if living there would be a good option, if it's somewhat safe for us. The parking is controlled access and gated at the apartments. Any help would be great thanks much!

I would not suggest this area.

If you share your budget and what you're looking for I'm sure we can offer some suggestions!

Well our budget is 600 to 800. 800 including utilities and parking. I know it's not a lot to work with at all but we just won't be able to afford anything higher. But I don't want that price range to leave us stuck in a bad area because we can't afford anything in CWE or Wash Ave, or even downtown. I've looked at some place in Soulard and that area but it's just so difficult to find something suitable and cheap enough. We have to have a two bedroom because we decided to sleep in separate rooms until we get married next year. So that another thing not helping the cost situation for us.

$800 for a 1 bedroom is easy; no worries!

The best neighborhoods to start your search in would be the Loop (which hugs the city/county line, so you're either looking in the inner-ring suburb of University City or the city neighborhood of Skinker-DeBaliviere), Tower Grove South and Benton Park. All of those are walkable, diverse and significantly safer and more gentrified than Visitation Park.
