Default Gay Clubs in STL and dancing?

So I'm moving to the area in a few months and hope to get familiar with the gay nightlife. I've always gotten picked on for my lack of rhythm and am a bit afraid that I'll receive the same treatment at the gay clubs in Saint Louis.

So, it comes down to this question: Does it matter if you're a poor dancer in the gay clubs and bars? I'm a lively guy, I'm nice and I'm always down for a good time but I do have this insecurity.

I appreciate any answers you guys can give me!

You will absolutely not get picked on. Where are you coming from, NYC? SF? People in STL are too laid back to really care about such things.

There are not huge gay dance clubs anymore in St. Louis -- unfortunately we have numerous bars services various sects of the gay community. Places for dancing include JJ's, Just Johns, Earnies 32, Magnolias, Bad Dog, Attitudes and Novaks. None of these are what anyone would call a big dance club. The most popular are JJ's, Just Johns, and Earnies for the boys, and Novak's for the ladies. Each of these have very modest dance floors. By the way, most of these are all located around the Grove district on or near Manchester Ave.

You don't HAVE to dance, but if you feel the desire, have it and you will be fine

If I can help any more - just let me know

Oh - and by huge dance clubs I refer to the likes of Faces which was in E. St. Louis, which closed some time back. It was three levels!

Yeah last time I was at Novak's there were far more people sitting or milling around the bar than drinking. That's my preference for a bar anyway. I get bored of dancing really quickly.

I think the gay bars in the Grove are a nice mix between milling around and dancing. It's also really nice that they're so close together, making barhopping a breeze. I usually hit up Erney's, Just John, and Novak's all in the same night. And sometimes Attitudes if I'm feeling adventurous...
