I love that drive along 94! Freaking gorgeous.

I'm sure there are things to like about Illinois, but I'm still not quite sure how anyone can argue it's as naturally beautiful as the Missouri side. It's just not.

That being said: I think it's unfair to gripe about "poaching" from the Illinois folk. They are a part of the St. Louis area, and should be allowed to suggest their areas if they want- doesn't mean we Missourians can't disagree with them though.

That's the best reponse you can come up with? You guys called me hostile and said IL was as good as Missouri yet when I question your higher gas prices and taxes you have NO response. Then you chime in with exactly?

That's it? I am most disappointed.

Regardless, my call in the mods statement was made in jest. You guys are more than welcome to visit MO anytime you wish. That is as long as you promise to learn how to drive in the slow lane whenever possible.

In case you haven't noticed, I live in Ballwin, MISSOURI. I never said Illinois was better than Missouri, although I will bet there are folks who will, and they have every right to their opinion, as do you.

Are you a politician? Nice spin job, you're almost as good as Hillary.

I don't care where you live, that was never part of the original question which was what is so stinkin' great about IL. You were the one touting IL so
I expected you to be able to defend your position. "I live in Ballwin" is paramount to crying "uncle". To top if off now your hoping others will chime in to save you? Too funny!!! Thanks for the chuckle!

Anyway, I think we are done with this topic since you can't on won't defend your position. At least I am...

Gentlemen, gentlemen! I think this is hardly worth quarreling about and getting the moderator in here to settle things down.

FWIW, nobody can spin as good as Hillary (John Leftwards might come pretty close, and so did Kerry back during the campaign), but that's something for one of the politics forums. Personally, I would prefer Missouri as a place to live. That said, I'd love to go back and visit the Cahokia Mounds; I got to spend only a very brief time there back in 2003. The Great River Road from Alton to Grafton is a nice drive as well. It's been such a long time ago that my family and I would head to Eckert's apple orchards on our yearly excursion to pick apples and ride on the tractor-pulled flat-bed trailer, and then come home with three or four bags of apples. This was way before the Great Flood of 1993.

The Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows out in Belleville is a great place to visit this time of year, with all the Christmas lights. The next time I make it back to St. Louis, I'd love to visit the Black Madonna Shrine near Eureka on the Missouri side. St. Charles, MO during the Christmas holidays sounds terrific, too. Well, cheers to the both of you! Living here in Left Coast Gulch has made me a roaring archreactionary when it comes to lovely politics, and nobody's going to pull the (Lynn) Woolsey over my eyes, but I'm not one to get into a knock-down drag-out brawl when it comes to the Missouri side vs. the Metro East. Well anyway.....

Last edited by northbayeric; 12-05-2007 at 01:42 AM.. Reason: Oops, there's a St. Charles, IL too. Had to clarify which state! :D

Eric,
As a former debate team member I am calling foul! We don't need no stinkin' mods (sorry Jammer, hopefully you get the movie reference.)

I was hoping to debate our IL loving friends but it appears they aren't up to it.

It is nice of you to step in and take over but I was done with this string before you chimed in. So...how does it feel to kick a dead horse?

PS...Mizzou is better than IL...the score was 40 to 34 at the dome this year.

You know, you either need to include some smiles (they're there on the right when you type in advanced mode) when you post so we can know if you're kidding. OR you can just write the way you are and then I don't need anyone else to make my case for me, you're making it better than I ever could.

I haven't flip-flopped here at all, in fact, I stand by all my posts all the time. Know that I just don't post here to see how I can debate someone, agravate or insult anyone.

I just gave RickMG and northbayeric a positive rep.

I didn't give Inoxkeeper one since he insists on acting like a child.....

Moderator cut: rude Where do you live, may I ask? I'm guessing Chesterfield or some other far-flung St Louis suburb that matters little or none to the city of St. Louis.

Who in the world has to pass through ESL on their daily commute? You mean driving 75 miles per hour OVER ESL on the way to St. Louis? Wow. I just have to stop typing now.
