My son has been a Taekwondo martial arts student for 3 years and is now a black belt. His martial arts instructor has recently retired and we are searching for a new Taekwondo school. Does anyone have any experience with ATA, specifically the Manchester location? good or bad I would like to know before I make a commitment.

I can't vouch for the school as I know nothing about them, but I just wanted to say I am glad you are trying to find a new school for your son because the exact same thing happened to me when I was kid. I was in a school for 3 years and achieved black belt just when the school closed and I ended up giving up the sport because there was nothing else around, and to this day it's still a huge regret.

Thanks Dreadnought. He has worked very hard to get to this point and achieve his goal. Started at age 7 and has attended classes 5 days a week for 2 hours a night! A student of Charlie Foxman, who was taught by Joon Rhee himself, Charlie is now 70 and retired. But he instilled in his students the history and meaning behind every technique and the respect the art deserves, that actual fighting is the last resort. So I feel I owe it to him to find a good replacement school. He has alot of determination and wants to be an 8th degree and be able to open his own school when he graduates, we'll see about that, he is only 9 and that could quickly change However I am having a hard time finding one that teaches the Jhoon Rhee style (old school/traditional) most I have found teach the "Olympic Style" which is all about learning how to "kick some one's ass" instead of learning the true Art of the Martial Art. Of course upon Googling ATA I got page after page of complaints which is quite scary considering the cost involved. So I am hoping that someone on here has some good suggestions. Thanks for your input.
