St. Louis Cost of Living
Would a combined income of 85k-90k be a decent salary to live on in the St. Louis suburbs?

I can only speak from my limited experience, since I'm 16. I live in Maryville, Illinois, making about 75k and we're comfortable in that range. I know the taxes are much lower in Missouri, so I think 85k to 90k will be fine as long as you don't want to live in Town and Country or somewhere equally expensive.

16 and making $75k? Explain how that's possible, I'm in the wrong business apparently!
I make $39k with a wife and infant son and we rent in Fairview Heights (IL) and we do fine.

Yes.
Depends on the part of town of course vs what you are looking for....but generally yes.
St. Louis is a very affordable geography.

I'm sorry, I meant my grandparents. I should've been more clear on that.

A nice perk is STL has some of the cheapest gas prices nationally....currently about 40 cents to 75 cents cheaper than Chicago, and even say 40 cents cheaper than Milwaukee and some others in Midwest. It's a bargain compared to some of those places.

I live in Illinois, and if I drive 15 minutes to STL, I can save 20 cents per gallon usually.
