I grew up in Michigan, for some reason, St. Louis has always seemed like a similar city to Detroit to me.

Regarding a rennaiisance at St. Louis. I don't know St. L well enough, but Detroit does seem to have fewer of the problems it had in the 80s and 90s. It is attracting people to the city itself. It IS much better than it was. That being said, there are still a lot of problems in Detroit as well though, but it's better now and more attractive than it was 10 years ago, for sure.

I've been reading about that. Isn't the residential population of downtown Detroit near 100% occupancy?

That would be nice if it was. I get tired of hearing and reading people bash Detroit. Especially southerners!
