You must obviously be a native STL-type to make that statement. Florida-based Publix is consistently one of the best supermarket chains in the country, and they are growing in places like Tennessee and North Carolina.

I love the variety and quality of Trader Joe's but am unsure if it will save the most money in the long run. I know there are plenty of Schnucks here, have seen Aldi, Shop n Save, Target, Dierburgs, and of course Trader Joe's. So, what in your opinion is the best bang for your buck grocery store?
I do very well at Shop n Save. Please tell me where Trader Joe's is. I didn't know we had one. Thank you.

It's worth mentioning that Kroger is about to re-enter the St. Louis market with their concept store "Ruler Foods", which is similar to Aldi, as "no-frills" shopping goes. That store is being built in Belleville, IL on the Beltline...

Publix is alright. I wouldn't say it's vastly superior to the nicer Schnucks'.

I think it depends which Schnucks you go to and which Publix you go to. Some Publix are awesome, some are just okay. Same goes for Schnucks and Dierbergs. It depends on the age / size of the store and how recently it was built or remodeled.

I love Dierbergs ♥♥♥

I've lived in St. Louis for 3 years and I've actually never been to Dierberg's But yes, some Schnucks' are better than others. I was mainly thinking of the Richmond Heights and Hampton Village locations as the nicer ones.

You need to get to a Dierbergs, Dawn10am! Even though Schnucks is closer to me, I've found myself shopping at Dierbergs more often since being back in the Lou. Plus, you have the option of Paper Bags there still, which is really nice

Default Sns

I'm going to have to go with Shop N Save. Around here in SoCo where I'm at, there's Walmart, Dierbergs, Schnucks & then Shop N Save. There's also a Save-A-Lot, Sam's Club, Dollar Tree & an Aldi's. Out of all of these, Shop N Save & Dollar Tree are preferred due to prices. Aldi isn't bad either and they got some good fresh foods but it's not usually on my to go list.

I'd like to mention also that I grew up in the Atlanta area and Kroger/Publix were the best chains down there.
