Hello! I'm looking for an apartment in the Skinker DeBaliviere neighborhood, but I'm having a hard time finding one in my price range. I'm hoping for a 1 BR that totals a max of $800-900 including utilities. (So, probably looking at a monthly rental price of up to $600-700.) What I'm tending to find on Craigslist and other sites are 2 BRs that rent for around $900-1000 and up, plus utilities.
I'm pretty hard set on living in that neighborhood, so I'm feeling a little desperate and wondering if anyone knows of a better place for me to search for an apartment? Or how to identify reputable property management companies in the area? Front Door STL has a couple of places in my price range in the neighborhood but I've heard they are just terrible.

Mills own a ton all over the city. The one I ended up in was called Park Station I believe. It was $618/month for a 2 BR, but that was a couple years ago. At Pershing/DeBaliviere. It didn't have any extras or fancy paint jobs, but it was a nice, clean space that was cheaper and larger than any others I could find.

I'd really like to end up within the bounds of the SD neighborhood (west of DeBaliviere, east of Skinker) so if anyone knows of any more resources for finding an affordable, decent, basic place there, please keep sending it along.

Are you familiar with PadMapper.com? It'll be the easiest way to go through rental listings on Craigslist visually on a map. It has helped me a ton in finding rentals.
