Default Lofts or Apartments near Anheuser-Busch

I am a male, 22 and I will be in STL working for AB for about 9 mon. starting in Jan. and I would like to know recommended Apartment Complexes or Lofts near AB HQ. Places I have looked at online are: The Gentry's Landing Majestic Stove Lofts Taravue Park Apartments (recommended by AB) I was also told to look into the Soulard Market Lofts. Any suggestions or advice? Thanks.

That really depends on what you like.

If you would like to be close to nightlife and downtown, then the Majestic Stove Lofts would be your best bet. If you would like to be close to nightlife, but still part of a residential neighborhood, then the Soulard Market Apartments would fit the bill.

The Taravue Park Apartments are DEEP in the suburbs. If you are used to being located next to malls, good shopping, and a very safe, clean environment, then that would be the best bet.

If it were me, I would live in Soulard.

Default Avoid south and west of AB

Having spent most of my life in St. Louis as native, you ought to know that you are taking about the historic districts of south St. Louis. There is a big speculation activity in renovations and if you hook up with a wrong realtor, you will be in a world of hurt. Avoid south of AB Brewery (that is Broadway converging with Jefferson avenue) as this is potentially drug and gang violence. For the prices in soulard, they are pricey. If you like an area with lots of weekend traffic, the bars and restaraunts are OK. As you move into the Benton Park area, be very careful as a lot of land speculation is going on.
Did you know that last January that St. Louis was determined as being the 6th worst city to live in?

First of all: Soulard isn't that pricey- really.
Second: Ah I hate this best city/worst city crap. It's so subjective!

I believe I read that St. Louis is always on the worse city list, but only becuase the study focuses ONLY on St. Louis city itself and not the huge metro area.
